Rainbow Sportscards and Collectibles carries a full line of Trade Paperbacks. Also known as Graphic Novels, Compilations, or just trades, trade paperbacks are simply a collection of all of the individual issues of a certain story from the comic books, combined into one book. Trade Paperbacks are generally purchased and read by the more casual reader who just wants the story rather than the collector who wants a full run of the comics. Many collectors will also buy the Trade Paperbacks of certain stories if they feel their original issues are to expensive to read casually.
Trade Paperbacks have been around in one format or another since the 1970's, but they really gained steam in the late 1980's, when DC comics started using them to keep certain stories in print and available. Classic stories like V for Vendetta, Watchmen, and The Dark Knight Returns continued to sell for them, and certain series that sold out quickly and were in demand like Batman: A Death in the Family went well, so they expanded the line. It was the popularity of the Sandman that really made Trade Paperbacks take off. The books sold and sold and have continued to do so until this day.
Rainbow's Selection of Trade Paperbacks
Rainbow Sportscards carries as many Trade Paperbacks as we can. We carry a full line of the popular Marvel and DC superheroes, as well as a good variety of smaller press superheroes. Trade Paperbacks of non-superhero characters are better sellers - titles like Hellboy, Y the Last Man, Fables, and The Walking Dead from various publishers offer readers a good variety of stories from different genres - horror, fantasy, adventure, sci-fi, and so on. Rainbow Sportscards also carries a selection of manga, japanese comics translated to English.
